Tips to Save Money Part 4

Wrapping up my 22 Tips to Save Money today...here are the last five!

#17: Skip the coffee shop. I know how hard this can be, heck I work at a place with a coffee shop attached! However, this is a huge budget buster for me. I now make my own coffee (or tea) at home with a hot water kettle and a pour over for coffee. It honestly makes the best coffee and cost me a total of $25! Splurge on beans from time to time if you’d like, but fancy machines (either at home or at a coffee shop) don’t always make the best cup of coffee.

#18: The library is your friend. While I’ve always been a fan of the library, during covid my local library also gives out monthly crafts for free! I have made cross stitches and macrame designs! Plus I get to read books I love without having to pay for them or keep them on a shelf when I’m done.

#19: Try a staycation. With many activities finally opening up, try visiting local attractions you haven’t been able to for the past year. My family has Knotts passes and I just make reservations to go soon! Plus there are many outside parks and trails that are a great way to get out and enjoy the area. Perhaps find a friend (or sister) with a pool you can hang out in for the summer! Plus there is always the beach close to us to enjoy for the day.

#20: Use Cashback apps. I know many people who use these, I personally use honey on my computer. They will find you the best deal on what you’re purchasing and some will give you cash back (or towards gift cards) when you purchase on their site.

#21: Refinance your mortgage. Obviously this doesn’t apply to everyone, but if you haven’t refinanced during covid, you should check and see if you could get a lower rate. We did this in March 2020 and saved over $700/month. Which we are continuing to pay on the house and will save us 9 years on your mortgage! That’s a lot of interest we are not paying!

#22: Sell everything (that doesn’t bring you joy). Declutter your home. Nathan and I have been doing this and feels good to not only make some money and clean out your closets, but to see someone else get joy from your stuff. If you go through your closets and didn’t know you owned something, sell it.

If you have any questions on how to put together your budget or where to put all the money you’re now saving, set up a time to meet with me. I’d love to help you.
